FAQ
What is a butter landing?
A butter landing is defined as touching down with a vertical speed between 0 and -60 fpm. It's exceptionally smooth and represents professional-level technique.
How is butter rate calculated?
Butter rate is the percentage of your landings that qualify as butter (V/S < 60 fpm). Only valid landings with recorded touchdown data are counted.
Does aircraft type affect the ranking?
Yes, we normalize landing scores by aircraft category. A butter landing in a heavy jet (A380) is harder to achieve than in a light GA aircraft.
